    From the mystical Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge to Taiko Rock, this was a wonderful tour that allowed us to fully experience the great outdoors of Yakushima. Walking while listening to our guide’s detailed explanations allowed us to go beyond simply admiring the scenery and gain a deep understanding of the forest’s history. The panoramic view of the forest from Taiko Rock is truly breathtaking. I think this is a fantastic tour that you can enjoy with complete peace of mind.

    We participated as a family with our middle school-aged child. I was worried that our child might get tired along the way, but thanks to the guide, who kept our child engaged with fun plant trivia, we were able to walk the entire route with smiles on our faces. Our child’s eyes sparkled at the magical scenery of Mononoke Forest, and we made some wonderful family memories.

    Just like last year, we specifically requested this female guide. Since she fully understands our preferences and physical abilities, we were once again completely satisfied with the wonderful route she guided us on, which avoided the crowds. The attentive care that comes with a private tour and the taste of hot coffee enjoyed deep in the forest are simply the best, no matter how many times we experience them. We’ll definitely request her again next time.

    The course is well-planned. The guide is very knowledgeable, and the stops along the way are all well-chosen. The view from Taiko Rock is also spectacular, and you can spend a full day enjoying the forests of Yakushima.

    My 15-year-old son and I hired a private guide and requested two separate trails over two days.　We thoroughly enjoyed trekking on both the Jomon Sugi Course and the Moss-Covered Forest to Taiko-iwa Course. Not only did the guide help us pace ourselves perfectly, but we also learned a great deal about the forest’s ecology, history, and the changes taking place on Yakushima.     Every corner of the forest, covered in green moss, was an Instagram-worthy spot! The way the sunlight filtered through the trees was absolutely beautiful, and I’m so happy I got to take so many magical photos with my friends♪ However, there were a few spots in the forest where the ground was a bit slippery, so I think it would have been even better—and perfect—if I’d rented some shoes to make walking easier.
