What is Jomon Cedar?

The name is said to have come from the rough, wavy bark of the tree, which resembles Jomon pottery, and from the belief that the tree may have been alive since the Jomon period.

Directions to Jomon Cedars
The entrance to the Jomon Cedar trekking isArakawa trailheadHowever,To reduce environmental impact and congestionAccess by cars and buses is restricted (from March 1 to November 30 each year).
In front of Yakusugi Nature Centerindicates certainty, emphasis, etc.mountain busTransfer to the "A" train to head there.
From Island Prefectural Road No. 77 (No. 78 on the way), turn onto Prefectural Road No. 592 at Awa and follow the road to the Arakawa climbing bus parking lot (Yakusugi Shizenkan). It takes about 40 minutes.
It takes about 40 minutes by mountain bus from Yakusugi Nature Center to the Arakawa trailhead bus stop.

A mountain bus is available from the Yakusugi Nature Center to the Fat Arakawa trailhead.
