The path we walked, step by step, surrounded by huge trees, was like a different world. I was worried because I was not confident in my physical strength, but the pace was perfectly allocated and I was able to complete the race without any difficulty.

Trekking became a must-do with my husband when we visited Yakushima for the first time on our honeymoon. Although there were a few hiccups along the way, we were blessed with good weather and it was not too hot, and we were able to see Yakusugi cedars and Wilson's stumps, including Jomon cedars, which were breathtaking. The guide gave us precise directions and judgment and talked to us about Yakushima, which made our time there very meaningful. I would like to be taken care of again when I come back to Yakushima.

We were a little worried about the weather, but the whole family enjoyed the 3-hour trek. I was a little worried that 10,000 yen per person would be too expensive, but we didn't have to worry about getting lost because we had a guide, who talked about the history of Yakushima, nature, and Yakusugi cedars along the way. It was a stress-free walk. We were also served with homemade raisin bread and coffee in the mountain. I am very glad that we were able to walk without a guide, because many people walking without a guide would have looked worried and uneasy.
