Yakushima-Yakushima Umigame-kan
About Yakushima Umigame Kan
Yakushima Umigame-kan is located right in front of Inaka Beach, one of the most famous landing sites of sea turtles in Japan, and is only a 20-minute drive from Miyanoura Port.
For various reasons, the museum is currently closed in the form of dissolution, but will open on March 21, 2019.
However, admission for groups of 5 or more people requires a reservation in advance, so you must apply in advance if you plan to enter.
An interesting and unique trial is the annual recruitment of foster parents for loggerhead and green sea turtles.
Of course, it is not about home, but it is a foster parent with the ecological investigation of tagging the parent turtles that came ashore in Inaka beach and the hatchlings that were bred for a year.
Although sea turtles have many mysteries about their ecology, you will be immeasurably moved when your foster child returns to lay eggs.
In addition to this, there are various other exhibits that can be viewed, but who does not find it adorable to watch the baby turtles as they eat their food?
When using public transportation, be aware that buses are infrequent.
If you are renting a car or driving, use low beams when turning on the lights after dusk to be gentle and considerate of the spawning sea turtles.
