About Shidoko Banyan Tree Garden
The Shidoko Banyan Tree Garden is located 11 minutes from Miyanoura Port by bus bound for Nagata, Tanegashima/Yakushima Kotsu, and a 5-minute walk from the Shidoko stop. It is the largest banyan tree park in Yakushima where many subtropical plants, including a giant banyan tree said to be over 500 years old, can be seen.
The park has two walking trails, one for 10 minutes and the other for 15 minutes, allowing visitors to enjoy a jungle-like stroll while admiring a variety of plants.
Mysterious banyan trees, which are rarely seen in Japan, and trees of various shapes hanging down grow in many places, giving visitors a strong sense of the life force of nature.
Directions to Shidoko Banyan Tree Garden
It is located approximately 11 minutes by car from Miyanoura Port.
With the ocean on your right, take Prefectural Route 78 in a northwesterly direction.
After crossing the Shidoko River, turn right at the intersection and turn left at the end of the street.
Continue down the street and it will be on your left.
