Yakushima - Driftwood Art Gallery, Mori no Mononoke
What is Driftwood Art Gallery Mori no Mononoke?
This gallery and cafe creates and displays playful art using precious driftwood from Yakushima.
There is a wide variety of art forms, and while the landscape paintings made of driftwood are eye-catching, the landscape basins made of driftwood, stones, sand, and bright green moss from Yakushima are wonderful in their exquisite expression of wabi and sabi.
Art comes in a variety of forms, ranging from daily necessities such as hanging items and slippers to bird boxes in a variety of shapes and sizes, and even a starry sky clock with a landscape painting made from driftwood as part of its composition.
There are not many items available for purchase at the art gallery in Onoma, and the main focus is on viewing the exhibits.
Since the gallery does not seem to accept only tours, it is recommended to enjoy the artworks while tasting the "Mori no Mono no Tezukuri Curry," another of the gallery's specialties.
