Yakushima-Onoma Onsen
What is Onoma Onsen?
There are several hot springs on Yakushima, one of which is Onoma Onsen. It is located at the entrance to the mountain trail on the south side of Yakushima.
Located at the foot of a mountain, the wooden building has a retro atmosphere reminiscent of a hot spring in the mountains.
This hot spring has a legend that a deer shot with a gun healed its wound about 350 years ago.
The building is modest, with only a guardhouse, a toilet, and a bathroom.
The bathroom is simple, with only one deep bathtub and several washing stations.
Stones are placed under the bathtub.
The fountainhead gushing out from the foot of the bath is as high as 49 degrees Celsius, and first-timers may not be able to get in.
Even if you are accustomed to boiling water, it is safer to pour the water over the body several times to ring the body before entering.
The spring is an alkaline simple sulfur spring with a pH of 9.6, and is a trotting hot spring.
The bathing fee is very inexpensive at 200 yen (100 yen for children). Residents of Onoma can enter for free.
In addition, there is a footbath outside the building, and those who do not have time can taste the tender hot spring water in the footbath.
