Yakushima-Kusugawa Onsen
What is Kusugawa Onsen?
Kusugawa Onsen is a traditional hot spring that is said to have a history of more than 400 years among the many hot springs on Yakushima.
To be precise, the temperature of the fountainhead is about 25°C, so it can be called a "cold spring," and the water itself is supplied heated.
The water itself is clear, colorless, and refreshing without being slimy.
It is written in the literature that this Kusugawa hot spring was used as a hot spring for a hot-spring cure from the time when the cedar trees, said to be more than 1,000 years old, presented to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, were cut out and worked on.
Currently, there are no facilities for overnight stays, and the spa is only available as a day spa, but it is open year-round except during the New Year's holiday.
Located a short distance from the prefectural road, it is close to a river, so fireflies can be seen at certain times of the year.
