Q. At what age can I experience snorkeling?

Q. Do snorkelers breathe in through their nose?

In snorkeling, snorkelers use snorkels and breathe through their mouths. Care should be taken to avoid breathing through the nose. Breathing through the nose can cause the mask to fog up or create a gap between the mask and the face, allowing water to enter.

When breathing, the key is to "breathe in slowly and loudly and exhale slowly" as in deep breathing. Since snorkeling is often done near the surface of the water, it is important to relax and control your breathing. If you are new to snorkeling, be aware of your breathing and try to breathe calmly until you get used to it.
