We went to Yakushima for a long-awaited trip. We had planned to see the Jomon Cedars, but we were too old (154 years old combined) and our bodies were not up to the challenge, so we decided to join a trekking tour to Yakusugi Land and Kigen Cedars. The tour started slowly in the morning and took about 3 hours for the entire 50-minute trek. Our guide picked us up at our accommodation and drove us to the trailhead for about 40 minutes, where we were met by the Sal family. We went deeper and deeper into the forest, looking around in all directions in the sunlight and occasional light rain, realizing that we were in the forests of Yakushima. Since it was not the time of year when many climbers were coming, we were able to enjoy the trekking tour while listening to the guide's explanations in a slow and leisurely manner. There were times when it rained heavily in the latter half of the tour, but overall we were very satisfied with the tour, with the guide's excellent guidance and knowledgeable explanations, and the enjoyable lunch. The tour was a very satisfying experience, and we were very glad that we came on this trekking tour.
