What is Yunoko no Yu?
Yunoko-no-yu is a hot spring whose name itself is a palindrome, "Yunoko-yu.
It is a new hot spring spot that opened in 2009 and is located approximately 15 minutes by car from Miyanoura Port, the window to the sea on Yakushima.
There are two bathtubs, but they are all reserved for private use, so reservations must be made by phone in advance.
In addition to private use, the hot water is replaced with new hot water each time by reservation only, and the hot water is heated by burning wood instead of using a boiler, a time-consuming and labor-intensive method.
The source is a cold spring with a low tail temperature, and the spring is colorless, clear, and orthodox.
One of the two bathtubs is a one-person goemon bath, and the other is sized to accommodate two to three adults at the same time.
Directions to Yunoko-no-yu
Yunoko no Yu is located about 15 minutes by car from Miyanoura Port.
Exit to Route 77 and follow the road south.
After entering Route 594, follow the road south, cross the Shiratani River, and turn right at the Y-junction to continue.
