Journey to Jomon Cedars with a chartered guide

This is a one-day charter trekking tour to the World Natural Heritage site of Jomon cedars, the pride of Yakushima. An experienced female guide will provide one-on-one support on the 22-km round-trip course from the Arakawa trailhead. Beginner climbers can also join the tour with no worries.

Spectacular views of ancient forests leading from the trolley path

First, you will walk along an 8.5-km trolley path, and then follow a mountain trail that leads you to the 7,200-year-old Jomon cedar trees. Along the way, a guide will carefully explain the unique nature of Yakushima, including the Yakusugi cedars and endemic plants. This is a tour where you can enjoy the World Heritage forest with all your senses.

4:00-4:30	Guide will pick you up at your lodgings (we recommend staying in the Awa area as much as possible if you wish to be picked up)
5:00	Board the climbing bus at Yakusugi Nature Center with a guide (breakfast can be served before boarding the bus or at the trailhead)
5:45	Trekking starts from Arakawa trailhead
8:30	Finish walking the first section (8.5 km of trolley path), restroom and snack break
8:45	Walk out the second section (2.5 km of mountain path)
11:30	Arrive at Jomon Cedars (lunch will be taken according to the situation)
12:00	Turn around from Jomon cedars and start descending.
14:00	Return to the trolley road. Restroom break
14:15	Walking on the trolley path again
16:30-17:00	Arrive at the Arakawa trailhead. Descend by mountain bus.
17:30-18:00	Your guide will drive you back to your lodgings. Thank you for your time!
